Frisson Rules, Must Read Before Character Creation
Our Promise To You
When I created Frisson I wanted it to be a fun and engaging place for writers to create characters and meet new people to write with. I enjoy the Victorian Era because I feel it gives so many unique opportunities for one to build characters that were intriguing and relevant during the mid 19th century. Where did they come from? How long have they been here? Most of all, what is their history and what makes them unique and engaging? All sites have rules, but I wanted to give those who write with me - those who choose to trust their writing on the site - a promise as well.
And so here is our promise to you - the writer - here at Frisson.
-To encourage creative and unique ideas.
-To be welcoming to all who write here.
-To allow you freedom to write your character the way you choose - within the realm of
the provided guidelines.
-To provide opportunities for writers to grow their characters through events and points.
-To remain active and relevant.
-To keep people engaged and excited.
-To foster writers to grow in maturity and develop better writing habits over time.
-To treat all writers with respect, regardless of skill and time writing.
-To ensure others feel safe and comfortable on our site.
-To treat everyone equally and fairly.
-To keep members informed to any changes that may occur as soon as they are decided upon.
In Return, we expect you:
-To refrain from creating supernatural, non--human or overtly powerful characters as this is not the forum for them.
-To research your characters historical time period and ensure that references and context is appropriate for the time.
-To address any concerns, questions or complaints with the admin and not air your grievances in a public fashion discouraging other writers on the board.
-To give your best writing at all times to those you write with. We do not have a word count, but our points system is based upon a certain amount of words written per post. If a post does not have more than 300 words, it will not receive points. Talk to your partners before hand about what you each expect when writing. Don't leave them wanting for more when they gave you so much.
-To be respectful to the other writers on the board. Not everyone will write how you do, nor do we expect you to agree with everyone or even like everyone. But we do expect you to respect them as fellow writers and members on the board.
-To not use the forum as a quick and easy outlet to write sexually explicit content. While it is welcome here for developed storylines, plot is more important. Take time to discuss your ideas with the people you are writing with. The story and the ability to write it is valued more here as there are other outlets in which those who are not as serious about writing can explore this avenue.
-To only write original works of your own making. This includes characters. Plagiarism is not welcome here and there are no canons on Frisson so please do not use popular fiction characters. While we welcome characters that are inspired by other sources, if we see a character that is too similar, we will deny their entry to the board. If you feel someone has infringed upon you or someone elses writing or original ideas, please pm admin so that they may look into any similarities and address any issues in private.
-To be friendly and engaging in the cbox. Welcome guests and encourage them as we have tried to encourage you! Our box is strictly pg-13 and does provide a private message system that you can take conversations away from the chat if necessary.
-To refrain from posts involving pedophilia and bestiality. All characters must be 18 years and older if involved in any intimate relationships. Any children on the board or those who use face claims of minors may not conduct in sexual relationships.
-To feel welcome to write dark, violent, bloody, ghory, sexually explicit and wonderfully exciting stories full of plot twists, depth and suspense, provided that they are marked ahead of time with the rating system given below.
-To respect fellow writers. This means no God-Moding or meta-gaming. If you have an idea that may seem questionable, talk to the person you are writing with and gain their approval first. All characters have flaws..that's what makes them unique and exciting. Embrace those flaws and allow the give and take of power to flow between both characters. No one likes to be power-played repeatedly.
-To remain active and post regularly on the board. There will be monthly activity checks and it is expected that each character created must have posted at least twice within that month in order to remain active. If a character is inactive for one month they will be placed in the inactive list. After two months of inactivity, the character app will be archived and their face claim released.
-If you feel you will need time away from the board, or you want to delete your character, please provide a leave of absence explanation.
-To follow the aforementioned rules and respect the administration and moderators who work to enforce them. We are excited to have you here and to write with you! But we must do what is best for all members of Frisson. OOC Name and Character creation on our site implies that you agree to the rules.
